ONGOING EACH DAY : Advising Meetings

Advising Info Table

The "walk-in" table would be staffed by AA staff in order to answer questions such as "how do I run a degree audit", "how do I know who my adviser is", "how do I find open classes" etc. This info table is meant for general information purposes regarding advising, registration, and course scheduling.

Majors & Minors Fair

The Majors & Minors Fair will be offered on 2 days to maximize student involvement. Each academic department/program should arrange to staff the table with different faculty each day. The M & M Fair is where students in all programs can informally receive information regarding all Penn State academic colleges. Tables will be staffed by faculty reps from all of the colleges.

Advising Meetings

One goal of advising week is to ensure that each student who has not done so already meets with their assigned academic adviser. To this end, each adviser should offer at least 2 hours of "open advising meetings" during advising week where students can drop in to meet with their assigned adviser. Advisers should contact Caressa Gearhart to let her know their hours so she can keep a master list for students. Additionally, advisers should post their "open advising hours" during advising week on their office door, and communicate this information to their advisees prior to advising week.

Entrance to Major Workshop

The DUS staff will offer an interactive presentation to students in all colleges regarding the ETM process and requirements.

Change of Location Workshop

The Advising Manager, Registrar, and Student Affairs will collaborate to present a workshop for 2+2 students intending to complete their degrees at UPark or other locations within the Penn State system. Students will gain information on time-lines, resources, requirements and steps to follow.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED AT ALL NOON-HOUR EVENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS AND ADVISERS
